Serving Shenandoah and Page Counties

Heroes

Dear Friends
Around the world, around the nation, around the corner – there is a place where people help others in need.
  • When people will give whatever they can to feed and clothe victims of an unimaginable disaster a world away or a state away
  • Where business owners and community organizations raise funds to help provide food and shelter for thousands of people who have lost their homes and livelihoods whether they be in Southeast Asia, Florida or down the street
  • Where a person will choose to leave the comfort of her own bed on a cold night to bring warmth and comfort and hope to a neighbor she may not know and may never see again

That place is Shenandoah County, and those kind people are generous residents and the trained and compassionate volunteers of the Shenandoah County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Red Cross is ready to respond to the emergency needs of each and every community, no matter how large or small the disaster.

You Helped Before. Will You Help Again?

While attention has been drawn this past year to the high-profile tragedies ensuing nationally and abroad, amazing achievements were also taking place in our own backyard. More than 27 families of local disasters, such as house fires, tornado, and the I-81 incident were given shelter, food, comfort, care and mental health counseling.

For more than 125 years local Red Cross chapters have provided our communities with heroes; volunteers who saved lives and helped countless families survive and recover from disasters. Now we are asking you to be a HERO for the American Red Cross by participating in our chapter’s 2010 HEROES campaign.

To become a HERO for the American Red Cross, you or your organization/school would agree to raise a minimum of $1,000. For your efforts you will receive the following recognition:

  • On our website
  • On our Heroes Wall/window display at the Chapter office
  • In our Chapter quarterly newsletter
  • In newspaper advertisements in the Shenandoah Valley Herald and others that will appear during and at the end of the campaign.

Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to securing your support.
